Community Education and Training Programs

Agora has certified trainers on staff who can help train your organization in suicide awareness and intervention. We offer a number of options and can tailor our presentations to fit the needs of your group. Our speakers are also available to tell groups about Agora's services and how you might use them, and we can do that in five minutes, or five hours - whatever you need! Some of our workshops involve fees - call for pricing and availability.

Our Suicide Awareness and Intervention workshops include the following:
  • ASIST - Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training. This is the gold standard, evidence-based intervention model used by the US military, school systems and law enforcement agencies around the world. Shown by major studies to significantly reduce suicidality, the ASIST model is designed to teach anyone, regardless of experience, how to recognize that someone is at risk of suicide and to be able to intervene and provide suicide first aid. The ASIST workshop is a two-day, sixteen hour experience.
  • safeTALK - This is a half-day alertness workshop that prepares anyone over the age of 15, regardless of prior experience or training, to become a suicide-alert helper. Most people with thoughts of suicide don’t truly want to die, but are struggling with the pain in their lives. Through their words and actions, they invite help to stay alive. safeTALK-trained helpers can recognize these invitations and take action by connecting them with life-saving intervention resources
  • QPR - Stands for Question, Persuade and Refer. These are three simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. QPR is an introductory awareness workshop which can be conducted in as little as two hours.
